The Vatakoula project, located in the picturesque suburb of Mermaid Waters, was a comprehensive renovation that spanned five months. Situated on a 547m² block, this 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home underwent a remarkable transformation under the guidance of MK Building. The clients sought to reconfigure the layout of their home to better accommodate their growing family, all while embracing a coastal theme. With a focus on updating fixtures and finishes, as well as adding extra rooms and entertainment spaces, the Vatakoula project was designed to blend modern living with a relaxed, beach-inspired aesthetic.

First Story Addition
A new first story was added, creating two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and a second living area, providing much-needed space for the growing family.
Custom Steel Mono Stringer Staircase
The renovation features a custom steel mono stringer staircase with Victorian ash treads, adding a stylish and modern touch to the home’s interior.
Outdoor Alfresco and BBQ Area
A new outdoor alfresco area and custom BBQ setup were created to enhance outdoor entertaining, aligning perfectly with the coastal lifestyle.
Study and Guest Bedroom Addition
The ground floor was reconfigured to include a study and guest bedroom, offering versatile spaces that cater to the family’s needs.
Project Completion Amidst COVID-19
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, including material and trade shortages, MK Building successfully completed the Vatakoula renovation. The project was managed with precision, ensuring that all timelines were met and the client’s expectations were exceeded.
